YOU WILL NEED FROM THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT:

*A Construction Application Jacket

*Building Sub-Code Application Form

*Electric and Plumbing Application Forms, if applicable.

THE APPLICANT MUST PROVIDE:

Completed construction application jacket and sub-code forms.

A copy of the complete property survey (with title block) showing the proposed deck to scale.

Two sets of complete construction drawings, or floor plans and side view showing the following information:

Please note: construction plans for decks on single family owner occupied homes may be prepared by either the owner/occupant or a NJ licensed design professional.

*Provide height of proposed deck above grade.

*Provide complete dimensions.

*Provide footing locations, spacing between, size and depth.

*Provide size and direction of girders and/or beams.

*Provide size and direction of floor joists.

*Provide complete details for guardrails such as spacing of structural posts, height of railings, spacing of members or spindles.

*Provide location of and details for stairs such as riser and tread sizes, show guardrails and/or handrails for stairs.

*Provide information on how attaching deck to building, if applicable, a flashing detail and all structural connections, such as how connecting girder and posts to footing, posts and railings to deck, ledger to building.

*Indicate access from house to deck, an existing or new door. If installing a new door, please indicate framing details for new header(s) and direction of floor joists or ceiling joists or rafters that header will be supporting.

*Indicate any proposed electrical outlets, lighting and or gas lines.
